We recently entered the New England Alpaca show in both fleece and animal classes and our small group of entries all came home with ribbons, including some broad. Shangrilah Amethyst took out first placing in the intermediate white suri female class and much to our delight went on to also gain the champion intermediate female suri award ( photo of Amethyst soon to be posted in our gallery). In the fleece classes, Shangrilah Ferdinand Von Mueller was awarded the blue ribbon in his class as well as reserve champion suri fleece for the show; Shangrilah Dominique was awarded second in the same class, both these animals are sired by our premier co owned male Surilana Donaldo. Additionally, we also took an intermediate light fawn female in her second fleece from our Alcazar herd, Alcazar Maryanne, who also was awarded first in her class and then went on to obtain the reserve champion award for intermediate female. Both Maryanne and Amethyst are sired by our stud male Cedar House Excalibar 2.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable day catching up with other breeders from ours and neighbouring regions and as always the show was very well run but with a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Amazingly Uralla even had the sunshine out for us for a change, this show has been held in sleet conditions previously! We were also very pleased to see the largest number of suris ever at this show.
success at our local show
