Farewell to 2015

31st December 2015
Another year has passed so quickly and reflecting back over it brings some highlights and a few low points, but not too many thankfully. We end the year with above average rainfall for the year, not bad for a year at least part in an El Nino pattern, so our alpacas are enjoying lots of green pasture and we are having the best season in 4 years; although we intensively hand feed when required the alpacas do not seem to thrive quite the same when without good natural pasture.
We have welcomed a few new female additions to our herd this past year along with many new cria. We continue to be very pleased with how our breeding programme is going overall and some of this years cria are quite stunning, even if we say so ourselves. We have brilliant lustre across most of the herd and fineness well instilled, our herd average SD continues to drop and we will continue to work on this, along with improving average density. We are pleased with where our breeding decisions are taking us and our herd.
Whilst we continue to focus on white suri, who predominantly make up our herds, now over 130 animals all up across both herds, our little foray into black suri has also continued on and we were lucky to have another female born to breed on with. There have also been a few surprises with a couple of fawns and to our shock, the first ever multi born in our herd, although popular with many, not what we are after so hope he is the first and the last!
We are also monitoring closely the second fleece development of a few of our young white suri males, we have several who may just well be our first ever home grown white suri stud males; we have been very strict about not just selecting ones that are just ok, but are aiming for the very best.
We currently have some very nice cria on the ground who hold promise also, we are adding their pics to our cria gallery page over the next few weeks so check them out. We are also doing other updates to our web site over the next little while so look out for these.
We would like to wish all our alpaca friends and followers, both here and on Facebook who have given us their camaraderie and support throughout the year. May we all be blessed with beautiful cria and lots of green grass and ample moisture in 2016.

Pacofino Zanzibar standing at stud

26th October 2015
In partnership with Ayatana Alpacas, Armidale, we are pleased to announce that Pacofino Zanzibar is standing at stud with us in the New England region of NSW. Zanzibar is with us from spring 2015 to autumn 2016. Zanzibar is a black suri who did very well in the show ring, being awarded each time he was exhibited.Zanzibar is available for outside mating purchases while he is with us. A big thank you to Linda Davies and Paul Cramley for the opportunity for us to have an infusion of their black genetics over our black girls.
